Despite the threat of rainy weather hanging in the air, golf enthusiasts took to the course at BridgeMill Friday for the annual Golf Fore Charity tournament held by the BridgeMill Sixes Service League.

After the golfers had finished up their rounds and enjoyed a meal inside Featherstone’s, league officials paid a special tribute to the tournament’s honoree, Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds. The league also presented Reynolds with a check he was able to turn around and gift to a charity of his choice.

With his check, Reynolds presented $500 to the Bethany Place organization, a faith-based home in Canton providing shelter to women and children who have been abused.

The building itself is a sort of metaphor, because like the women who come there from all walks of life to transform their lives, that old chicken house is now transformed into a lovely, welcoming refuge.
